Welcome

Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche and Gesar Mukpo after the marathon.

On November 6th the Sakyong ran in the 36th annual NYC marathon as a fundraiser for Shambhala with a time of 3:26:11. Our hopes are to wipe out most of the burden of our operating debt and clear the way for projects people all over the mandala are asking for. The goal is to raise $250,000! It’s huge, but it’s all that’s left from a $611,000 debt that hit us three years ago. Additionally 10% of the funds raised will go to the worthy cause of the ongoing rebuilding of Surmang.

You can follow the lead up to the race on this site. To watch some of Rinpoche’s rigorous training schedule visit the video section of this site which will have updates, also there will be dispatches from Rinpoches training partners about what goes in to preparing for a marathon. Rinpoche’s contribution to the community is immeasurable, his commitment to the vision of the Vidyadhara is unshakable.

What you can do is simple: show your support for the Shambhala vision, honor the Sakyong’s commitment and help the community flourish with your donation. Help the wisdom of Shambhala spread so it may benefit limitless beings in this dark age. It has been and remains a pleasure to aid my brother Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche in his heartfelt and inspirational journey. Thank you so much for your contributions, financial and otherwise. May the Dharma expand for as long as it is of benefit for sentient beings.
-Gesar Mukpo

Running for Shambhala donations equal $85,000.

Financial Report

A financial report to the community from President Reoch will be published on this site towards the end of the month and detailed financial information, presented to the most recent meeting of the Mandala Council, will be posted on the Shambhala website. Watch for a Shambhala News Service announcement and click on to this site for the report and links to the Shambhala website.

The Sakyong's brother, Gesar Mukpo, has come forward to spearhead the fund-raising drive. Here, on this website that he is running for Shambhala, he will present a series of video spots and regular updates on the run-up to the marathon. You’ll also be able to track the race and the Sakyong’s progress here on this site.

You can also make an on-line donation on this site. You can give a single amount or you can make a donation by the mile. You can do that on the day, or – even better – as soon as you want.

To support the Mukpo family’s continuing campaign to rebuild the Surmang Shedra in Tibet, ten per cent of the funds raised will go towards that – a project that hundreds of Shambhalians are supporting each year.
