Gesar Mukpo Biography

Gesar Mukpo will be giving a series of talks at six Shambhala Center in North America and Europe. He will be appearing in New York on Monday, October 17th, Berkeley on Friday, October 21st, Halifax on Sunday, October 23rd, London on Wednesday, October 26th, Cologne on Thursday, October 27th and Amsterdam on Saturday, October 28th.

In his role as director of the Running for Shambhala Campaign Mr. Mukpo is representing the Sakyong and Shambhala. He is hoping to meet as many people as possible to talk about the forthcoming marathon and what he and the Sakyong hope their fund-raising efforts will accomplish for the mandala as a whole.

The evening, in itself, is not intended to be a fundraising event. It is an opportunity to meet Mr. Mukpo, and connect with him as a senior member of the Mukpo family. He will be accompanied by Ms Terry Rudderham, the head of Shambhala’s Office of Finance and Development. People will receive first hand information about the central operations of the mandala, the new projects that are planned, and ask any questions that may be their minds.

Gesar Mukpo is the son of the Vidyadhara Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche and Lady Diana Mukpo. Recognized as the reincarnation of Chögyam Trungpa’s root guru, Sechen Kongtrul Rinpoche, by His Holiness the 16th Gyalwa Karmapa and His Holiness Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche, he was enthroned in a traditional Tibetan ceremony at the age of three.

Gesar works as a film editor and cameraman. He currently resides in Halifax with his wife Anna and daughter Chökyi.
